Apologies

The phrase "I'm sorry" means absolutely nothing to me. It is a reflex, something people use to get out of uncomfortable situations. For example, when you're walking down the street and bump into someone, you apologize, you say that you're sorry. You're not really thinking it. The only reason you said it is because you don't want any trouble with that person. You didn't think about saying it, it just came out. It was a reflex, something you do naturally. It meant nothing. Or when it's said in anger, you're mad at someone. They are accusing you of something that you don't believe to be true and you just want the conversation to end. You don't actually think about why that person is upset, you just what to get out of the uncomfortable situation. So you say you're sorry, in hopes that it will calm the person down and get them off your back. It doesn't actually mean anything. It's just a way out.
